Jeannette Gonzalez, CMP

Ms. Gonzalez is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) with over ten years of high-level management experience in meetings/conferences, special events including travel arrangements for high-profile clients. She has extensive experience in all aspects of managing large budgets and staff, including staff recruitment and training, vendor, travel and site negotiations and working as a liaison for United States most recognizable, prominent high-ranking Public Figures. Her experience managing US Federal and State contract work gives Ms. Gonzalez expertise in all aspects of program funding, development, management and evaluation services. Her executive-level duties have covered results-focused project tracking; cost accounting; staff, consultant, and subcontractor supervision; and management of task-order level of effort, cost plus award fee, performance-based, and cost plus fixed-fee contracts. She also provides leadership and strategic direction to executive management team in building an exceptional Event Planning firm. Assures the organization, its mission, and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image. Many of her skills are being applied in building her businesses: entrepreneurial focus and vision implementation include; ability to work collaboratively; solid judgment, critical thinking skills; a high sense of teamwork; ability to handle multiple tasks. She also has strong involvement in facilitating design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of services. Ms. Gonzalez is the co-founder of Network of Latino Meeting Professionals (). is a 501(c)6 organization that was established in January of 2006 with the goal of expanding impact and raising awareness about issues within the Latino meeting planners’ community in the United States. Ms. Gonzalez was instrumental in the initiation, design and implementation of this ground-breaking project. She provided sound leadership and strategic direction for Board of Directors for the first two years, during which time she held the position of Chairman of the Board. Ms. Gonzalez has honed her computer skills over the last fourteen years with extensive experience in graphics design, desktop publishing, marketing and database conference support. Among other skills, Ms. Gonzalez has pursued a career on energy healing. She holds certificates as Reiki Master, EMF Balancing Technique (Phase I-VIII) Accredited Practitioner and Certified Thai Massage Practitioner.

Laurie Nelson-Choice

Director, Eastern Regional Sales
Laurie has been with VISIT Milwaukee (formerly the Greater Milwaukee Convention and Visitors Bureau) since January 2000. As Director of Eastern Regional Sales, Laurie manages the satellite office operations in Washington, DC and generates leads for associations, corporations and government organizations in the Washington, DC, Virginia and Maryland territories. In addition, Laurie also generates leads for the multicultural market all around the country. Prior to VISIT Milwaukee, Laurie worked with the Greater Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau, both in Columbus, OH and Washington, DC. Laurie has a BS in Communications from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She is a member of several industry associations, including the International Association of Hispanic Meeting Professionals (IAHMP), Meeting Professionals International (MPI), National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners (NCBMP), Professional Convention Managers Association (PCMA), Religious Conference Management Association (RCMA), and Society of Government Meeting Professionals (SGMP).

Haydee Barno, CMP

American College of Preventive Medicine,
Director of Meetings and Events
Haydee Barno is the Director of Meetings and Events at the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM). Previously, she joined the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) a national membership organization that supports Microenterprise Development in the United States. She is a Certify Meeting Professional (CMP) who has over five years experience in the meeting industry. Ms. Barno oversees staff on coordination of all logistical aspects of the association meetings, her responsibilities include but are not limited to budget management, marketing, publication development, hotel site visits, contract negotiations, RFPs development, lead staff for conference committee and the supervision of onsite staff and volunteers. Ms. Barno holds a law degree from the American University of Managua (UAM), considered by many to be Nicaragua’s top law school. Prior to her arrival in the U.S., she worked for a firm that specializes in commercial law. Ms. Grijalva is fluent in English and Spanish.

Christobal C. Pulido

National Council of La Raza,
Event and Meeting Planner
Prior to his career in the hospitality industry, Christopher received his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature from the University of California – Berkley and worked as a 4th grade bilingual teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area. While teaching, he also danced with Ensambles Ballet Folklorico de San Francisco and volunteered to organize their annual repertoire shows. Deciding that he liked event planning, Christopher left education for a position as an Event Designer for Ideas Special Event Company in San Francisco, CA where he specialized in design and décor for upscale events. After relocating to Baltimore, MD, he continued working in hospitality with such organizations as P.W. Feet and Families & Children’s services of Central Maryland, planning a number of corporate and charity events. He has also worked as an independent wedding planner for private clients. Christopher is currently the Event Manager for The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the leading Hispanic advocacy organization, at their national office in Washington, DC. In addition to his responsibilities as the registration and housing coordinator for the over 20,000 attendees at the NCLR Annual Conference, he also helps organize meetings and logistics for all local, regional and national meetings and events as part of his work within the Strategic Communications Group, the events arm of NCLR. Building on his diverse meeting and event background, Christopher is currently working on obtaining his CMP and CSEP certifications.

Trudy Singh, CMP

NYC & Company,
Director of Sales Accounts
Trudy Singh is Senior National Sales Manager for NYC & Company, New York City’s official tourism marketing organization. A transplanted New Yorker, Trudy is a seasoned professional in the hospitality industry. A graduate of Drexel University’s Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Management program, Trudy has held several positions in the industry ranging from Banquet Manager to Regional Sales Manager before joining the Washington, DC office of NYC & Company. This background makes her particularly effective in offering solutions to the meeting and convention planner. In her current position with NYC & Company, Trudy solicits key Mid Atlantic and South East accounts to bring their meetings to New York City. She serves as a primary resource for meeting planners, tour operators, travel agents, and individual visitors interested in New York City. She also acts as a liaison for the convention industry customers to member hotels, restaurants, attractions, venues, and service providers-offering such services as familiarization tours, site inspections, promotional materials, and housing services. Trudy serves on the Board of Directors for of Latino Meeting Professionals and as an advisor for the Northern Virginia Community College Tourism Program. She is a former Board Member and active participant in the National Capital Chapter of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals. Trudy is also a member of several other industry associations, including Professional Convention Management Association, the International Association of Exposition Managers, Meeting Planners International, the Association of Meeting Professionals, the International Association of Hispanic Meeting Professionals and the National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners.

Anita Nuñez

National Director of Multicultural Sales
Anita Nuñez started her career in the hospitality industry at the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau where she strategically planned nation-wide events promoting Puerto Rico for meetings and conventions. She was quickly promoted to Regional Sales Manager where she spearheaded sales initiatives focusing on the growing US Hispanic Market. In her extensive work with National Hispanic organizations, she succeeded in securing annual conventions for the first time in Puerto Rico such as the NALEO 2005 Annual Conference, 2005 Labor Council for Latin American Advancement Annual Conference and the 2007 US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Annual Convention. After 6 years at the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau, Anita’s career led her to work under the guidance of one of the most influential Hispanics in Washington DC’s hotel community, Hector Torres. Anita became part of Mr. Torres’ sales force as the Associate Director of Sales at the Beacon Hotel and Corporate Quarters in Washington DC. Anita’s zest for the hospitality industry and the US Hispanic Market caught the attention of Hilton Hotels Corporation which recently appointed her to the position of National Director of Multicultural Sales as part of Hilton’s outreach to minority-owned businesses and organizations. Anita’s work will consist of fostering strong relationships with Hispanic organizations focusing on the needs of this growing market while positioning Hilton Hotels as The First Choice of the World’s Travelers. Anita is an active member of the hospitality community and dedicates much of her time to and is a proud member of Meeting Professionals International’s Potomac Chapter ( as part of the Board of Directors and Multicultural Initiative Committee.

Maria Lourdes Delgado

Multi-Cultural Sales and Programs Manager
Maria Lourdes Delgado serves as the Multi-Cultural Sales and Programs Manager for the Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitors Bureau, a position she has held since July 2004. Mrs. Delgado joined the Greater Phoenix CVB in 2003 as an intern for the Multi-Cultural Dept. and in April 2003 was promoted to an assistant for the Sales Dept. She has the responsibility for helping managing and services Multi-Cultural accounts. Mrs. Delgado has acquired a broad range of experience in both the sales environment and with client relations. Mrs. Delgado helped initiated the B.E.S.T.TM College Student program and partner with Arizona State University in 2005. This program helps multi-cultural students in selecting a career in the tourism industry. Mrs. Delgado earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Tourism from Arizona State University in 2003.

Charles Gonzalez

Charles “Chuck” Gonzalez is employed at the Department of Labor and manages the Department wide management and leadership programs. Chuck is a past president of the National Capital Chapter of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals and is active in human resource organizations in the greater Washington area. Chuck is also a certified administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. He is also consulted by other federal agencies on the development of management and leadership programs. Chuck welcomes the opportunities of working with people who are serious in their own personal development.

Maricel M. Herrera, CMP

Association for Molecular Pathology, Inc.
Director, Meetings and Membership Services
Maricel M. Herrera has enjoyed a career in the hospitality industry for more than 13 years. She is currently responsible for the execution of AMP’s annual meeting and tradeshow, member recruitment and retention, oversight of all marketing efforts and website management for her society. She is also responsible for the oversight of internal associates which plan smaller meetings within her office. Before joining AMP (Association for Molecular Pathology) full time as a meeting manager, Maricel worked jointly for several small societies including UAREP (Universities Associated for Research and Education in Pathology) and APC (Association of Pathology Chairs) as a Meeting Coordinator. Maricel began her career in the industry at AAI (American Association of Immunologists) as the Executive Assistant and Meeting Planner of small events. Ms. Herrera attended the University of Maryland and holds a B.A. in Business Administration and a B.A. in Information Systems Management. She has been a member of the NCBMP for the last ten years and currently serves as an Advisory Board Member for of Latino Meeting Professionals. Her interests outside of work include traveling, art of all types and fashion design and construction.

Stacey D. Johnson

Director, Multicultural Segment Sales
Stacey Johnson is Director, Multicultural Segment Sales for Marriott International, Inc. Her responsibilities include strategy development for Marriott International field sales penetration of the Multicultural market, multicultural segment sales training, account management, industry relations, and strategic partnership development, as it relates to diverse business segments. During her 16 years with Marriott, Stacey has held various positions such as National Account Executive as a member of the National Sales Organization, Assistant Director Of Sales, Senior Sales Manager-Association Sales, Convention Services Manager, Catering Sales Manager, Room Service Manager and Management Trainee. Stacey is a graduate of Howard University, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a concentration in Hospitality Management. Stacey is a member of National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners where she is chairman of the Conference/Program Planning Committee. She is also a member of Meeting Planners International (MPI), Professional Conference Management Association(PCMA), International Association of Hispanic Meeting Professionls(IAHMP) and Network of Latino Meeting Professionals (  ) as an advisory council member.

Georgina A. Salguero

United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
Manager, Events
Georgina A. Salguero, became Events Manager of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2004. In this role, she is responsible for the implementation, management and execution of the USHCC Annual Legislative Conference, Annual Convention & Expo, Board of Directors Meetings as well as various special events. These programs further USHCC’s goals of advocating on behalf of the nation’s 2-million Hispanic owned businesses; delivering membership benefits and value added services to the 200 affiliated Hispanic Chambers of Commerce across the United States; driving initiatives that advance the development of Hispanic businesses and aligning Chamber operations to implement Board policy and achieve the USHCC’s strategic objectives. Immediately prior to joining the USHCC, Salguero served as a Media Buyer on the John Kerry for President Campaign through one of its Public Relations firms specializing in reaching the Spanish language market segment. Prior to this she served as Manager, Exhibit and Sponsorship for ERC (Employee Relocation Council) an International non-profit organization. In this capacity, she was responsible for implementing marketing strategies and generating non-dues revenues through the exhibit and sponsorship program of ERC’s domestic and international meetings. She has also served at the Hispanic Heritage Awards Foundation as Senior Manager, Program & Events, responsible for the development and implementation of a national educational scholarship outreach program for youth in the top 12 Hispanic markets in the United States. Salguero brings a diverse background of logistical, marketing, and operational meetings and exposition management to the USHCC National Staff. She has been responsible for meetings/conventions/events in the domestic United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia. These events’ attendances have ranged from 50 persons to as many as 45,000 people. VIP speakers to these events have ranged from the President of the United States and other elected government officials to various Hispanic leaders, celebrities and other notable speakers. Salguero is a member of PCMA, Professional Convention Management Association. She has also served as a Board Member of the Spanish Catholic Center, a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. serving the needs of Latino immigrants.

Belinda Thompson, CMP

San Diego CVB,
National Sales Manager
Belinda moved to the Washington, DC area from her hometown of Niagara Falls, New York in 1985. Prior to the hospitality industry she worked in the banking industry as a Mortgage Loan Processor for the Equitable Bank Mortgage Division in Towson, MD. Belinda joined the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau in February 1988 as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Sales. Presently as National Sales Manager and CMP, Belinda is responsible for sales to the Government and Multicultural markets in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Local industry memberships include: Just Because, National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners, Society of Government Meeting Professionals, Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International, and the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives. Mrs. Thompson graduated from Dickinson-Warren Business College in Berkeley, California. She presently resides in Charles County Maryland with her husband Morris and their two children Joseph and Maya.
